How to Make Travel Lego Box Storage

Project Overview

Make a travel Lego box storage kit to keep kids entertained on trips. Easy to build, portable, and perfect for creative play on the go.

Not everyone needs a travel box storage setup, but my nephew definitely did, he's got a full-blown Lego obsession.

I ended up making one for him and one for my son, figuring it might keep them both entertained (and maybe even sitting still).

These little boxes are fun to make, easy to customize, and perfect for road trips, waiting rooms, or just keeping all those tiny bricks in one place instead of underfoot.

The inspiration for my boxes came fromFinely and Oliver, and I thought I could make those!

I did mine, with only slight differences, but for the basic tutorial, you can check out the one I linked to above.

The box I used came from Hobby Lobby, but I checked on a recent trip, and they no longer sell these exact boxes, but any kind of wood box with a flat lid should work.

Instead of painting the box, I used Mod Podge to adhere the fabric to the wood box.

Any wood areas that the fabric doesn't cover, I painted with craft paint to match the fabric.

You cancut a builder platedown to the size you need to fit on top of your box, and then glue it on top.

This box actually holds quite a few Legos!

I can't wait for my nephew to get his, so the boys can play together with their travel Lego boxes.

I'm hoping it will keep them busy for at least an hour. ğŸ¤
